NativeWays Travel & Tours is up and running. The Articles of Incorporation were approved by the North Dakota Secretary of State on March 2, 2017. We plan to start offering Native American guided tours this summer. Our initial guided tours will include local cultural attractions such as the North Dakota State Museum & Heritage Center, the On a Slant and Knife River Villages, the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, and the UTTC International Powwow. Later this summer, we also plan to offer a few multi-day tours to casinos, powwows, music festivals, and other special attractions on tribal lands.
Indian Country’s premier news organization featured NativeWays in an article published in late April 2017. Written by reporter Kristin Butler, the story described the mission, services and plans for providing guided Native American tours and other adventures throughout North Dakota and beyond. Darin and Jason Morsette, representatives from the North Dakota Native Tourism Alliance, were the star attractions at the 2017 Rocky Mountain International Roundup held May 3-5, 2017 in Bismarck, ND. The duo met with tour operators from all across the world to promote Native tourism offerings in North Dakota. Following the conference, a group of international attendees traveled to the Fort Berthold Reservation where the Morsette brothers treated the group to tours of the tribe’s earth lodge village, heritage museum and event center. The experience promises to attract future international travelers to tribal lands throughout the Dakotas.
